Bill Naifeh Selected Chef of the Year

Kingfisher Regional Hospital’s Bill Naifeh recently received the American Culinary Federation of the Oklahoma City Chapter 32 Chef of the Year. Naifeh is a member of the American Culinary Federation (ACF) professional organization. He has been a member for the past seven years and is currently the treasurer for his local chapter. There are currently 22,000 members nationwide, with 230 chapters in several states. Oklahoma has 3 chapters; one in Tulsa and two in Oklahoma City. Naifeh was chosen out of his local chapter, where there are currently 100 members. This honor will allow him to compete at the regional level and at the national level if he continues to win. “I feel honored to have received this award from my chapter,” said Naifeh.

The ACF- OKC 32 chapter meets at a different venue each month. Their meetings consist of variety of national and local information, current industry trends, and education. “Through this organization, you can be certified nationally in several different areas. Each area is complex and rigorous. I am currently working on certification of culinary educator”, states Naifeh. “There are three individual parts to this current certification, and I’ve completed two of the three. My goal is to have my certification by the end of December, 2009.”

Naifeh is not new to the food industry. Before coming to work in the dietary department at KRH, he was culinary art instructor at the Gurthrie Job Corp for five years. Naifeh also owned Bills Bread Box in Kingfisher for 16 years.

Bill Naifeh, a Kingfisher resident since 1976, is married to Helen. They have been married for the past 32 years. They have two lovely daughters; Sara who is married to Ryan Smith and Maggie who is married to Ian Daniels. Bill and Helen also have one gorgeous granddaughter, Ella.
